Butchers from Tilehurst Grab the Prestigious Guild Smithfield Awards!

You might all be aware about the Guild Smithfield Awards that took place to recognize the best of British butchers. Several professionals from Woking and other places in the UK had taken part in the competition. A group of meat cutters from Tilehurst have proved that they are better than the rest by winning scooping four gold at the national level competition.

The winner savouries:

The savouries that won gold prize were pork Cumberland sausages, mint and apple burgers as well as home cooked gammon. Matthew Fort, who is Guardian’s food and drink editor as well as an award winning author said that “I have always loved the way butchers work and it is quite magical to see them break up a carcass by being so calm.” 54 professionals from places like Bagshot were also a part of this event and around 479 products competed against each other. The products were then tested by independent panels of food and meat industry experts.

Smithfield Awards get glory:

One of the meat cutting professionals from West Yorkshire said that “Smithfield Awards are the most prestigious accolades in the meat industry. And it is quite appreciable the way they recognize and award both innovativeness and quality.”
